Martina Piperno is currently Assistant Professor at Università La Sapienza, Rome. Her research concerns the perception of time in Italian literature and theory from the 18th to the 20th centuries. Her first book (Rebuilding Post-Revolutionary Italy: Leopardi and Vico’s ‘New Science’, Voltaire Foundation at Oxford 2018, co-winner of the Modern Language Association’s Aldo and Jeanne Scaglione Prize for Italian Studies, 2018) explores the legacy of Giambattista Vico in early 19thcentury Italian culture. She was awarded her PhD in Italian Studies at Warwick University in 2016. Before joining La Sapienza, she held positions as Visiting fellow at the Department of English and Drama at Queen Mary University of London, as Alberto Institute Visiting Fellow at Seton Hall University (NJ, USA), as Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellow at the Italian Department at University College Cork (Ireland), and as FWO Senior Postdoctoral fellow Fellowship at KU Leuven (Belgium) in the MDRN Research lab.
